Questing for Wii May. 20th, 2007 @ 11:35 pm
I'm trying to find a wii. Sean offered to help me buy one and my brother gave me a Best Buy gift card for my Birthday, so I'm trying to track down a Nintendo Wii (cause the things are so cool). Anywho, in anyone in or around North Atlanta Metro finds one, let me know (and fast). :-)

I don't know why My Chemical Romance gets so much hate. They sing well, they play well, their album well-produced, their music is poppy but not bad, and they do a very good job performing in concert. They seem like a pretty good band to me. ^_^

Though their videos crack me up because they're entirely over the top.

I saw both My Chemical Romance and Muse in concert a couple of nights ago. Both bands kicked ass. I was very surprised by My Chemical Romance's perform. They did a very good job of working the crowd and keeping the audience engaged, as well as playing well.

Symptom: Abdominal Pain. GO Feb. 22nd, 2007 @ 07:45 am
So, starting Tuesday at 2:00 am, I started having abdominal pain (mostly lower, but it seemed to move). It felt like a combination of gas and heartburn. I took some antacids (which had no effect) and eventually went back to sleep. I tried to go to work on Tuesday, but I was still hurting so I took my laptop home and worked from home in sweats and groaning quite a bit. I also tried taking pepto, gas-x, and Milk of Magnesium (sp?), none of which fixed the pain. The pain persisted though Wednesday morning when I called in sick and went to the doctor.

I spent most of my waking hours yesterday at the doctor and hospital. At the doctors office they poke my belly, collect a urine sample (yes, the birth control is working), a stool sample (no blood, no ulcer), a pelvic exam, an ekg (heart's looking good), and then they sent me to the hospital for more tests!

I got a contrast cat scan. They made me chug this barrium sulfate stuff. It tasted like milk with orange juice and chalk added. Then radiology put this IV straw thing in my elbow so they could insert an iodine iv. After they took their pictures, they removed the iv and left the straw thingie in my elbow so the lab could use it to draw blood. Then they send me to the lab.

So, I go to the lab, and I've still got this thing in my elbow.
The lab technician says "Oh no, I can't use that to draw blood"
Me: "Can you take it out"
Him: "Nope."

So, then he preps the back of my left hand to draw blood.
Me: You're drawing blood out of the back of my hand and not elbow.
Him: Oh no, sweetie, that would hurt.

My thoughts at that are 1. Isn't the back of my hand more sensitive than my elbow. 2. Aren't the vein in my elbow wider and easier to draw blood out of than the veins in my hand. 3. I've already got something sticking out of my elbow, is it really that big a deal. But I just let him get on with it.

Let me say this: Never EVER EVER EVER let someone draw blood out of the back of your hand. Those first two thoughts I had, they were correct. That hurt a lot more and took longer than it would have if he used my elbow like every other person who's ever drawn blood out of me.

At least after all that bs, I got a final diagnosis from the cat scan. It's kinda big and on my right side

And now, I have pain meds :-)

Also, on a positive note: my bp seems to have returned to normal and I've been removed from my blood pressure medicine. We'll see how long that lasts

BTW, I'm in Duluth Now Jan. 24th, 2007 @ 06:28 pm
So, the company I work for, ILC, got bought out by a slightly more corporate entity known as Datapath.

Press Release: http://www.datapath.com/news-release-12-01-06.pdf

Datapath's main office is in Duluth, so last weekend we moved from Buckhead to Duluth. After some slick negotiating (read: luck), I managed to get out of my apartment lease without penalty and I moved to Duluth. It's actually really nice out here, and I'm loving the new place. It's a ways away from schizobovine, but that's about the only downside. I live about 2 miles from my office, so my travel time is awesome.

Datapath is looking like a great company so far. I hear they pay more than ILC, so I think I'm going to get pay boost. Also, I got moved in the org chart so that I'm no longer a maintenance engineer, but rather a software engineer and I'll be working on integration projects instead of support. I found out the reason I've never been taken off drivers is because my drivers are good. They work when I send them. Customers are happy. My boss is happy. Life is good. However, I want growth, but I think now I'm in more of a position for it. My boss is really happy. Really, really happy. (Dear Brett, thanks for the shitty review, the new job kicks ass kthxbye).

Benefits at Datapath are pretty nice too. i get a 401K with matching, 11 paid holidays, 15 days of paid time off, insurance and all that jazz, and some other stuff like a discount from Dell's site. They're very corporate, and that's about the only downside. I can wear jeans to work now :-)

Life is pretty good right now. :-)

Also why do we elected retarded people. There should be an IQ requirement before you can run for public office.

"They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the Internet. And again, the Internet is not something you just dump something on. It's not a big truck.

It's a series of tubes.

And if you don't understand those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and its going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material...

Ten movies streaming across that, internet, and what happens to your own personal internet? I just the other day got, an internet was sent by my staff at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday. Why?"
-- U.S. Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) on the topic of Net Neutrality, a concept I'm sure he doesn't really understand very well at all but is fervently against because someone *cough*SBC*cough* paid him off.

» WoW - MC Debuff

I imagine that whatever bug led to this was long ago fixed. So, in Molten Core there is this boss called Baron Geddon. He cast a debuff that turns a player into a bomb that will explode after about 10 seconds and cause AoE damage to anyone near him. A warlock's pet will keep a debuff if it is dismissed and resummoned. So, this warlock's felhunter pet got the bomb debuff. He dismissed it. He resummoned it in the middle of the Ironforge Auction House.

Auction House go BOOM!

I hear his account nearly got banned for that.
